Background
Alaska Glacier Seafoods, Inc. is owned and operated by the Erickson Family. They started the company back in 1996, as somewhat of a hobby, selling a few pounds of side-stripe shrimp that we caught in our 14-foot aluminium skiff. Shortly after, they purchased a few thousand pounds of halibut individual fishing quotas, which they sold to local restaurants and a road side stand on the weekends. In a fairly short time, the demand had us buying small loads of halibut from other fishermen and our business took off! In 2005, they opened a 10,000 square foot water front processing plant on the pristine waters of Auke Nu Cove, just outside of Juneau. Today they process over 10-million pounds of fish annually and employ nearly 150 people during the peak season.

The challenge brought to AquacultureTalent was to provide this company with the skilled, reliable temporary staffing they needed to effectively operate their work environment and maintain a high level of performance. Specifically, this company needed AquacultureTalent to:
- Ensure their seasonal temporary workers would continue to be met
- Quickly and efficiently manage the transition to Juneau, Alaska
- Improve overall management of their temporary staffing services
Solution
Once a relationship with the client was established, AquacultureTalent immediately called for meeting with the HR department to devise a plan for the implementation of their new staffing services. We have delivered seasonal staff for several seasons.

Staffing Services: Our temporary staffing services because of our industry specialisation we have been able to place workers on a season-term basis, for Halibut, Salmon, Rockfish, True Cod, Blackcod, Sea Cucumbers, Crab and Shrimp seasons.
Database search: we placed several candidates from our existing network and system.
Speed: The roles was filled on weeklly basis, as per client needs.
Methodology: With each sucesfull candidate, we have follow our speciffic process, including drug screening, background and references checks.
Appointee: Very experienced with aquaculture business, who led several aquaculture projects in different countries and all of them have been the result of his job as a business developer for new aquaculture projects.
